RULES OF PLAY
Player Registration
All teams must be registered in the online registration system, complete before the tournament begins. A team will not be scheduled until payment is received. Payments are by credit card.
Any team or player determined by the Tournament Director to have falsified age will be dismissed from the tournament without refund. All teams must have proof of age available at check-in. The online registration system will be sufficient, but proof of age will be required and must match your online roster.
Check-in
Check-in will be held online and must be completed by Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
1) You will need to upload proof of age for each player either with a current seasonal year player card from STYSA, US Club, AYSO, or USYS or, if you do not have any of these, then you will need to upload a copy of the player's birth certificate.
2) You will also need the official medical release for each team. This will also serve as the official team roster. You will be required to upload a copy of a player card or birth certificate for each player. You will also need to upload your roster to the registration site.

Rosters
All rosters are frozen at check in before first game. Exceptions may be allowed for extenuating circumstances but must be brought to the attention of the tournament director.
TEN (10) is the maximum number of players on a team; FIVE (5) field players at one time, with one being the goalkeeper. Minimum of one goalkeeper and two field players required to start the game. Players may only be rostered and play on one team in the tournament. A violation of this rule will result in player and all teams involved being immediately removed from the tournament.
Players do not need to be STYSA registered players to participate. No players may be added to the team after a team has officially checked in.
Gender
No males will be allowed to participate in any female divisions. Females CAN play in male divisions. U6-U8 are played as co-ed divisions (unless brackets can be formed gender specific)
Substitutions
Unlimited rolling substitutions are allowed, but players must get referee's attention and enter and exit at the half-field mark only. Players must wait until the substituted player has left the pitch completely before entering the playing area. In the case of a goalkeeper substitution, the referee must be informed, and change made at a stoppage of play.
Equipment
All players must wear shin guards. Any player without shin guards will not be permitted to play. Appropriate shoes must be worn (no metal cleats, no baseball or football cleats). Home teams are responsible for providing game balls. Ball Size for all age groups is appropriate size for age group.
Uniforms
Players do not have to have formal uniforms – t-shirts are acceptable. All players must be in the same color and teams that have a color conflict will need to wear pennies to fix this issue. Goalkeepers will need to have different color jersey. Shirts should be numbered. Home team will be listed first on the schedule. In the case of a color conflict in jerseys, the home team will be required to use an alternate jersey or pinnie.
No jewelry will be allowed (this includes earrings, necklaces, and bracelets).
Field Dimensions
The playing area is rectangular and of the following dimensions: 40-50 yards long x 30 yards wide. Goal sizes are within the discretion of the hosting organization and will be appropriate in size.
Goal Box
The goal box (proportionate with the field played upon) is directly in front of the goal. The goal box will be 3-yards from each post and 6 yards into the field of play.
Game Duration
All games, will be 30-minute games. (2) “14 Minute” halves with (1) “2 Minute” halftime.
Each team will play a minimum of 3 games. Games tied after regulation play shall end in a tie except for playoffs & finals. For playoffs and finals ending in a tie after regulation, there will be a five-minute golden goal period followed by a 4-player shootout.
All games will work on a running clock with no suspension of time except in the event of injury requiring professional medical attention. Teams found to be delaying a game will be penalized. Games will start on time and teams continuing to warm up when the game whistle has been blown will miss the start of the match and risk forfeiture of the match. Teams who arrive more than 10 minutes after the start time of the game will forfeit the match. Not all brackets will have a playoff or finals match and may be played on points only. The tournament reserves the right to adjust the brackets based on fair play.
It is the responsibility of the winning coach, or home team in the case of a tie, to verify that the correct scores are posted on the game card and official scoreboard and to bring the game card to the headquarters.
In the event of inclement weather or any circumstances beyond our control, the Tournament Director has the authority to restructure or cancel the tournament. In the unlikely event of game cancellation, entry fees will not be refunded. Considerations will be made for credit for the next year’s tournament. Every effort will be made to complete the tournament.
Scoring
Games will be scored according to the following:
6-Points for a Win
3-Points for a Tie
1 Point for Shutout.
1-Point per Goal (Max 3)
Advancement
4 teams: Round robin within bracket, top 2 points will play in final.
5 teams: Round robin within bracket, top 2 points will be awarded 1st and 2nd.
6 teams: 2 brackets of 3 teams each. Will play cross bracket, top 2 points will play in final.
8 Teams: 2 brackets of 4 teams. Will play round robin within bracket, top points in each bracket will play in final.
Tiebreakers
Ties between two or more teams will be broken by.
Head-to-head results between tied teams;
Goal difference in pool play with limit of 5 goals
Most goals scored in pool play
Fewest goals against in pool play;
Playoff team shootout with entire rosters.
Playoff Overtime
Teams will play a 5 MINUTE “GOLDEN GOAL” overtime period. If the score is still tied, the winner shall be decided by shootout with the 4 players on the field & keeper at end of golden goal period.
Offsides
No offsides in 5v5 soccer.
Five Yard Rule
In all dead ball situations, defending players must stand at least five yards away from the ball. If that is not possible, the ball shall be placed five yards back from the infringement in line with the place of the penalty.
Kick-Ins
Kick-ins are indirect. A player on the field must touch the ball before ball enters the goal. Any balls kicked directly into the goal from kick-ins are given as a goal kick.
Corners
Corner kicks are to be taken from the corner of the field where the ball went out and must be re- entered into play via a kick.
Deadball Kicks
Dead ball situations should all be indirect except for penalty kicks.
Goal Kicks
May be taken from any point inside the goal box.
Penalty Kicks
Shall be awarded if, in the referee's opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by the infraction. It is a direct kick taken from 10-yards from the goal line. Goalkeepers must be on the goal line for penalties.
Kick Off
May be taken in any direction. A center spot will mark where the kick-off will be taken. The spot will be surrounded by a circle with a 3-yard radius. A halfway line will be marked across the playing area.
Goalkeepers
The goalkeeper can return the ball into play by throwing or passing in, no punting allowed. Goalkeeper cannot throw in the ball beyond midfield mark without touching another player. Free kick on midfield line for infraction.
Goalkeeper is allowed to leave the goal box to play the ball, but ball must be touched in defensive half by another player before entering opponent’s half.
Goalkeeper cannot hold the ball inside the box for more than 6 seconds.
Player Discipline
YELLOW/RED CARD: Based on Laws of the game.
Forfeits
A forfeit shall be scored as 5-0.
Sportsmanship
Players, coaches and spectators are expected to always act in the nature of good sportsmanship. Abuse of the referees will not be tolerated. Any instance of such conduct will disqualify the responsible team from the event. Each game will have an assigned referee to officiate. He/she will have the same powers and duties as laid down in the laws of the game. All decisions of the referee are final and will not be overturned.
Awards
Awards will be presented to the 1st and 2nd place teams within each group.
Protests
No protests will be permitted, with the exception of player eligibility. All decisions made by referees or Tournament Director are final. The Tournament Director will decide upon matters not in the tournament rules. Decisions of the Tournament Director will be final.
